The perimeter of the rectangular playing field is 564 yards. The length of the field is 8 yards less than quadruple the width. What are the dimensions of the playing​ field?

It is given in the question that

The perimeter of the rectangular playing field is 564 yards. The length of the field is 8 yards less than quadruple the width.

Let the width be x yards. SO length is


=(4x-8) yards

And perimeter is the sum of all sides. That is


x+4x-8+x+4x-8 = 564 \\ 10x -16= 564 \\ 10x = 580 \\ x=58

Therefore the width is 58 yards. And the length is


= 4(58)-8 = 224 yards
