When we hear the word "quotient" it indicates that we need to divide.

Reading it from left to right:

n divided by -4 = 9

Now solve for n.

n/-4=9

Multiplly both side by -4 to cancel the denominator.

Giving us:

n=-36

Check your answer:

36/-4 = 9 Yes. That checks out.
