So 64 is also equal to 4^3, and with x^6 you would do 6/3 to get x^2, and the same with y^9 since you would do 9/3 to get y^3. And the negative can’t be taken outside the division side so you make that i since it’s an imaginary number

∛(-64x⁶y⁹)

= ∛((-4)(-4)(-4) xxx xxx yyy yyy yyy

= -4 x²y³
