If you are driving 85 km/h along a straight road and you look to the side for 1.9 s , how far do you travel during this inattentive period?

By definition we have that the distance traveled is equal to:

d = v * t

Where,

v: speed

t: time

On the other hand, we have the following unit conversion:

1 hour = 3600 seconds

Therefore, substituting values we have:

d = (85(Km)/(h))*((1.9s)((1)/(3600)(h)/(s)))

d = 0.045Km

Answer:

during this inattentive period you travel:

d = 0.045Km

Speed of a vehicle = 85km/hr

We have to calculate the distance traveled in 1.9 second.

Since the speed is given in km/hr, so we will convert the speed into m/s.

We have to multiply the given speed by
(5)/(18).

Therefore, speed = 85km/hr =
85 * (5)/(18)

= 23.6 m/s

Since, Distance = Speed
* time

Distance =
23.6 * 1.9

= 44.8 meters.

So, he traveled for 44.8 meters in 1.9 seconds.
