A taxi service charges an initial fee of $2.15 then charges $1.68 a mile. Write a linear equation to model this situation.

a.Y = 1.68x + 2.15B.y = 2.15x + 1.68C.C = 1.68x + 2.15yD.C = 2.15x + 1.68y

Let y represent the total amount charged by the taxi service.

Total charge = fixed charge + variable charge

Given initial fee( fixed charge) = 2.15

Let the taxi travels x miles

Since the rate is $1.68 per mile so if the taxi travels x miles ,then

the amount incurred = 1.68x

y= 1.68x + 2.15

Hence option A is the correct answer.

Initial charge = $2.15

Let 'x' represent the number of miles taxi service charges and the total charges be 'y'.

Charges per mile = $1.68

So charges for x miles =
1.68x

Total charges = Charges in x miles + initial charges

y =
1.68x + 2.15

So the answer is option A
