If you have a grid with a hundred units and you need to show 1 hundredth (or 1%) you shade in 1 unit. If you need to show a tenth (or 10%) you shade 10 Units. I would need a picture of the grid to help any further.

Answer with explanation:

1.\rightarrow (1)/(10)=0.1\\\\2.\rightarrow (1)/(100)=0.01

When you have to shade one tenth ,you shade only 1 out of 10 rectangles ,and when you have to shade one Hundreth you shade one out of 100 rectangles.
