One common system for computing a grade point average (GPA) assigns 4 points to an A, 3 points to a B, 2 points to a C, 1 point to a D, and 0 points to an F. What is the mean of a student who gets an A in a 3-credit course, a B in each of two 2-credit courses, a C in a 3-credit course, and a D in a 2-credit course?

A student gets an A in 3 credits (4, 4, 4)

B in 2 credits (3, 3)

C in a credit (2)

D in a credit (1)

Add each number together and divide by the amount of numbers there are:

(4 + 4 + 4 + 3 + 3 + 2 + 1)/7 = (21)/7 = 3

The mean is 3, or a B

hope this helps
