Marietta was given a raise of $0.75 per hour, which gave her a new wage of $12.00 per hour. Enter and solve an equation to determine Marietta's hourly wage, x, before the raise. Complete the explanation to show that your answer is reasonable. The equation is( ) = 12.00. Marietta's hourly wage before the raise was $ ( ) Marietta received a raise that was less than $1.00 per hour, so her new hourly wage should be less than $( ) + $1 = $12.25. Her new hourly wage of $12.00 is less than $12.25, so the answer is reasonable.

The new wage is equal to the old wage plus her raise, so:

x + 0.75 = 12.25
or
x= 12.25-0.75

Meaning x is her original wage, being $11.50

Hope this helps ;)

X+.75=12.25

X+.75-.75=12.25-.75

X=11.50

11.50 wasMarietta's wage before her raise
