Hello! I would love to help!

Okay, first, let's change each fraction into compatible numbers. Let's find a common denominator.

I think we should go with 4 since both 2 and 4 can go in evenly.

Let's rewrite the problem with common denominators.

2 2/4 -(-3 1/4)

Okay, Everytime we see a double negative, it counts as a plus sign. So let's rewrite that

2 2/4 + 3 1/4

Okay! Now let's add!

2+3=5

2/4+1/4= 3/4

5+3/4=5 3/4

So, your final answer is 5 3/4!!!

Hope this helped! Comment if you have questions!

Note that two negatives = one positive.

Change each into improper fractions

2 1/2 = 5/2

3 1/4 = 13/4

Find common denominator. Multiply 2 to both numerator and denominator of 5/2

5/2(2/2) = 10/4

Add

10/4 + 13/4 = 23/4

23/4, or 5 3/4 is your answer

hope this helps
