Christopher Columbus started with the idea of finding up direct route to Asia via Atlantic Ocean especially India because Indian traders during late 14th century were trading spices to Central Asia which Asian were selling to Europe at a very high profit margin, there was high demand for these species in Europe because Europe had this period as period of "renaissance" and thus flourishing. However, Columbus instead of reaching Asia landed on San Salvador. In the new lands Columbus found he tried to get from them riches like silk and species, he also decided about colonizing them, starting settlements and promoting Catholic religion among them.
