Formula for mid point.
(x1/2+x2/2 , y1/2+ y2/2)

Mid point=
(1/2+ (-3)/2 , 4/2+ 7/2)
(-2/2 , 11/2)
(-1, 5.5)

We can find the midpoint by finding the average between the two points.

We have r(1, 4) and s(-3, 7).

The formula for midpoint is
(x_1+x_2)/(2), (y_1+y_2)/(2).

Let's plug in 1 and -3 in
x_1 + x_2 and plug in 4 and 7 in
y_1+y_2.

(1+(-3))/(2), (4+7)/(2)

Simplify the top numbers so now we have:

(-2)/(2), (11)/(2)

Simplify even further and now we have:

-1, 11/2

So the midpoint of the line segment is (-1, 11/2).
