so the amount is y and the hours is x...so if it had said there were 2 inches of rain then you would plug in 2=0.25(x) to figure out how long it had been raining...
but since it says it had been raining for 8 hours..you plug it in for x...so y=0.25(8)=2
so 2 inches of rain
