To find the gas mileage in miles per gallon, first we converting kilometers to miles then converting liters to gallons and then dividing the result of both.

As one mile is equal to 1.6093 km, therefore 400 km in miles

(400)/(1.6093) =248.6 miles

Now 1 liquid gallon = 3.78 litres therefore, 47.3 L in gallon (gal)

(47.3 L)/(3.78 L) = 12.5 gal

Thus, the gas mileage in miles per gallon is

$(248.6 miles)/(12.5 gal) = 19.88 mil/gal \simeq  19.9 mi/gal$
