It is given in the question that

A building casts a shadow 48 ft long. At the same time, a 40 ft tall flagpole casts a shadow 9.6 ft long.

Let the height of the building is h ft .

Now we take ratios and solve for h. That is

(h)/(48) = (40)/(9.6)

Performing cross multiplication,

9.6h = 40*48

Dividing both sides by 9.6

h = (40*48)/(9.6) = 200ft

Therefore the height of the building is 200 ft .
