x-3x=2(4+x)\ \ \ \ |\text{use distributive property}\\\\-2x=(2)(4)+(2)(x)\\\\-2x=8+2x\ \ \ \ |-2x\\\\-4x=8\ \ \ \ |:(-4)\\\\\boxed{x=-2}\to\boxed{A}

OK. So the answer is A. put -2 in replace of all of the x's and see if it matches. Ready?

(-2)-3*-2 = 2(4+-2) So the first answer is 4 and the second answer is also 4. Meaning they are equal so the answer is A. -2

Hope this helps
