The Revolt of 1857 was given different names/terms. Which terminology would you like to use for the Revolt of 1857? Why?

The terminology which could be used for the revolt would be "first step of India's independence" as this revolt made Indians realize the exploitation made by the British,it also helped India the gain Independence later on. This revolt was also give a name by the British officers as "Sepoy Mutiny", caused due to the "Enfield Rifles".

This is because the rebellion was the major first attempt by Indians to resist British rule. Although unsuccessful, it was widespread given that it begun in Meerut by Indian troops in the service of the British East India Company, and spread to Delhi, Agra, Kanpur, and Lucknow.
