we know that

if the cake has a rectangular shape, the area is equal to

A=L*W

where

L is the length side o the cake

W is the width of the cake

in this problem

we have

A=93 (1)/(2)\ inches^(2)= (187)/(2) \ inches^(2)

W= 8 (1)/(2) \ inches = (17)/(2) \ inches

L=?

A=L*W

solve for L

L=A/W

L=(187/2)/(17/2)=(187/17)=11 \ inches

therefore

the answer is

the length is equal to 11 inches
