Both problems are proportions, so cross multiply in each problem to get rid of the fractions.

41.
(9)/(x) = (12)/(21)

Reduce the fraction in the right side.

(9)/(x) = (4)/(7)

Cross multiply.

4x = 9 * 7

4x = 63

x = (63)/(4)

x = 15.75

43.
(5)/(2) = (10)/(x - 2)

Cross multiply.

5(x - 2) = 2 * 10

5x - 10 = 20

5x = 30

x = 6
