Answer: $393.75

Explanation:

Given : Georgia is paid $7.50 per hour for an 8-hour day .

For overtime (More than 8 hours) she is paid = 1.5 x $7.50 = $

Here Pay in week is given by :-

For 7 hours = 7 x $7.50 = $ 52.5

For 12 hours = 8 x 7.50 = $60 + (4 x 11.25) = $105

For 9 hours = 8 x 7.50 = $60 + ( 1 x 11.25) = $71.25

For 10 hours = 8 x 7.50 = $60 + ( 2 x 11.25) = $82.50

For 10 hours = 8 x 7.50 = $60 + ( 2 x 11.25) = $82.50

Combined amount she has earned this week =

$ 52.50 + $ 105 + $ 71.25 + $ 82.50 + $ 82.50 = $393.75

Hence, her pay for a week = $393.75

Georgia worked overtime on 4 of the 5 days. Her total overtime hours were

... (12-8) +(9 -8) +(10 -8) +(10 -8) = 4 +1 +2 +2 = 9

Then her pay for the week is

... (hours) × (pay per hour)

... = ((7 + 4×8) +1.5×9) × $7.50

... = 52.5 × $7.50

... = $393.75 . . . . Georgia's gross pay for the week

_____

Pay for "time and a half" can be computed by multiplying pay by 1.5 for overtime hours, or multiplying overtime hours by 1.5 and using straight pay. Either way, it is (overtime hours)×(1.5)×(straight pay).
