Plantations and Slave labor

England's southern colonies in North America emerged as the farming economy which could not sustain without Slave labor. Many workers existed on huge farms known as plantations. These plantations yielded valuable crops which are traded by the colonies, such as tobacco and cotton. Each plantation was similar to small settlement dominated by the single family.
