The Duchene muscular dystrophy or DMD is caused by the mutations in the Dystrophin gene. In this condition, a point mutation occur which lead to the loss of the muscle mass gradually, due an X linked disease; it is more common in males.

Every male accept an X-chromosome from the mother and a Y chromosome from his father. In case, the son has the DMD it must be inherited from mother, not the father.
