Negative one times the sum of twice a number and 3. -1 * (2x + 3)

Two times the difference of -4 times the number and 3. 2 (-4x - 3)

-1 * (2x + 3) = 2 (-4x - 3)

As we have constructed the equation by following the statements now it is pretty easy to solve the equation further.

Now solving it gives us -2x - 3 = -8x -6. 6x = -3. So x = -1/2.
