STEP 1

Since AB = CD , M is the midpoint of AB , and L is the midpoint of CD

then OM = OL

2x - 3 = x + 5 → x = 8

OM = 2x - 3 → OM = 2(8) - 3 → OM = 16 - 3 → OM = 13

STEP 2

Since AB = 60 and M is the midpoint of AB

then MB = 30

STEP 3

Draw a line from O to B to create triangle OMB. Notice that OM is perpendicular so M is a 90° angle, so the Pythagorean Theorem can be used.

OM² + MB² = OB²

13² + 30² = OB² substituted from steps 1 and 2

169 + 900 = OB²

1069 = OB²

32.7 = OB

Realize that OB is the radius.

Answer: 32.7
