Hello!

-5 y + 9 y

Lets expand this.

Apply the distributive property.

y ( y + 9 ) − 9 ( y + 9 ) y(y+9)-9(y+9)

Apply the distributive property.

y y + y ⋅ 9 − 9 ( y + 9 ) yy+y⋅9-9(y+9)

Apply the distributive property. y y + y ⋅ 9 + ( − 9 y − 9 ⋅ 9 ) yy+y⋅9+(-9y-9⋅9) Remove parentheses.

y y + y ⋅ 9 − 9 y − 9 ⋅ 9

Now that you have that, lets Simplify and combine like terms.

y 2 + 9 y − 9 y − 81 y2+9y-9y-81

Subtract 9 y 9y from 9 y 9y. y 2 + 0 − 81 y2+0-81

Add y 2 y2 and 0 0. y 2 − 81

Your answer is 81.

Hope this helped ^v~
