What is the slope of a line that contains the two points (4, 6) and (2,-5)?

Use the formula:
m = (y2 -- y1) / (x2 -- x1).

First, do -5 - 6, which equals -11.
Next, do 2 - 4, which equals -2.
Finally, divide -11 / -2 to find the slope.

You should get 5.5 as your answer.
