Martin Luther King Jr. was an African American Reverend who was a major leader of the Civil Rights Movement of the 1950's and 60's. Born in 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia, he experienced much racism which led him to speak out against it. However, instead of using violent methods to get his way (Malcom X. did that) MLK and his followers protested peacefully by marching and boycotting racist businesses and public transportation.
