ok ... so the way i solved this is by finding the correct side measurements ... so in this there are 2 rectangles ... so lets find the area of both rectangles individually and then add it together ... so the rectangle on the top will be a and the down one will be b

rectangle a :

as we know ... a rectangle has opposite sides equal . the side on the right is 20 ... subtract it from 11 ... if we do that we get 9 ... which is the length of rectangle a and as the top is 7 bottom will be 7 too

now we know the sides of rectangle a which is 7 and 9

and area of rectangle : l × b , ∴ 7×9= 63

now b ... sides of rectangle b are 14 and 11

so 14×11= 154

now add it ... 154 + 63 = 217

∴ = 217 sq.

a = 7*9 +11*14
=63 + 154
=217 cm^2
