tan \theta = ( opposite)/(adjacent)

And in the given diagram,

opposite = 2 \sqrt 3, adjacent =-2

Substituting these values in the formula of tan theta, we will get

tan \theta = (2 \sqrt3)/(-2)

Simplifying the fraction,

tan \theta = - \sqrt 3
