they are beneficial because when trees die from the forest fire, it acts as sort of a fertilizer for the conifers and jack pines.

Forest fires are beneficial to Jack Pine trees and other conifers because forest fires release the seeds that are buried within the cones that these trees produce. The majority of these cones produced by these conifers are sealed within a resin, which will only melt at a high temperature. Even though hot, dry days may release the seeds, forest fires are more likely to be effective. Hope this helped.
