Add 2/3 and 1/2. Multiply 2/3 by 2/2 and 1/2 by 3/3 to make both fractions have common denominators.

  1. 2/3 * 2/2 = 4/6
  2. 1/2 * 3/3 = 3/6

4/6g + 3/6g = 14

  • Combine like terms.

7/6g = 14

  • Divide both sides by 7/6.

g = 14 ÷ 7/6

  • g = 14 × 6/7 = 84/7 = 12

g = 12
