Area

Find the area of each of the shapes and then add them together.

Area of the rectangle is L x W = 12 x 8 = 96

Area of the semicircle is (π · r² )/2 = (π · 4²)/2 = 8π

Total Area = 96 + 8π ≈ 121 ft²

Perimeter

Find the perimeter of each of the shapes, add them together, and subtract the common side.

Perimeter of rectangle is 2L + 2W = 2(12) + 2(8) = 24 + 16 = 40

Perimeter of the semicircle is (2 · π · r)/2 = π · r = π · 4 = 4π

Common side is 8

Total Perimeter = 40 + 4π - 8 = 32 + 4π ≈ 44.57 ft

Answer: Area ≈ 121 ft², Perimeter ≈ 44.57 ft
