The answer is 3. Think of the problem like going into debt. 12 dollars
minus 14 dollars means u have negative 2 dollars. Then you get paid 5 dollars. You gave 3 left over

the awnser is 3, because when you add 12 with 5 you get 17, than subtract 14 the negetive, and you get 3.
