You multiply 65 to the x and negative 5

To solve for x you need to distribute the 65 onto x-5.

65•x + 65•-5 + x = 180
65x - 325 + x = 180

Next you add 325 to both sides

65x + x = 505
66x = 505

Finally, you divide 505 by 66

x = 7.65
