1. The electrons revolved around the nucleus at a fixed distance in fixed orbits.

2. As long as the electrons revolved around these orbits, they neither gained nor they lost energy.

3. Electrons jumped from one orbit to another only when certain discrete amount of energy is supplied or lost.

Thus the atom will be completely stable n the state with the smallest orbit, since there is no orbit of lower energy into which the electron can jump.
