We are given

Five added to one fourth q is the same as 4 more than q

Left side:


=5+(1)/(4)*q

Right side:


=4+q

now, we can set them equal


5+(1)/(4)*q =4+q

we can isolate q on anyone side


5 =4+q-(q)/(4)


5-4 =q-(q)/(4)


1 =(3q)/(4)


1 *4=3q


q =(4)/(3)...........Answer
