You need to get the ‘A’ on one side and the numbers on another. So add 4a to the left side which is -3a-11 < 1. Then you add 11 to the right side. So -3a< 12. To get a alone divide it by -3 on both sides. Also, when you divide a negative number the sign gets switched to the the other side so your answer is:
a > -4
