1. Slavery started in the colonies because the colonists needed cheap labor to grow the economy quickly so they could export things to England and other places.

2, They were brought here on ships from Africa

3, The jobs they had were usually house work or field work depending on where they were in the country.

4. They were different because there are different climate in the different parts of the country

5. Slaves were important because the government made money off of slave trading. They put a tax on it.

6. Some of the difficulties slaves faced were being treated badly, working long hours, being separated from their families.

7. The alternative to slave labor was to let the woman go to work. They were able to work.
