"subtracting 6x^3 -2x+3 from -3x^3+5x^2-7" could be rewritten as:

-3x^3+5x^2-7

-(6x^3 -2x+3)

which, in turn, becomes:

-3x^3+5x^2-7

-6x^3 +2x-3

-------------------

-9x^3 + 5x^2 + 2x - 10 (answer)

Here we have rewritten the problem in proper order: -3x^3+5x^2-7 comes first and the expression to be subtracted (6x^3 -2x+3) comes second. Then the parentheses are removed. The various powers of x (x^3, x^2, x, c) are lined up vertically, and then each such column summed up.

6x^3 - 2x + 3 - (-3x + 5x^2 + 4x - 7)....distribute the negative thru the parenthesis.

6x^3 - 2x + 3 + 3x - 5x^2 - 4x + 7.....combine like terms

6x^3 - 5x^2 - 3x + 10 <==

:)
