Find the roots of the quadratic equation y=x^2+3x+2

x^2+3x+2=0
x^2+ (2x+x)+2 (splitting middle term)
(x^2+2x) + (X+2)=0
x(X+2) +1(X+2)=0
(x+1) * (X+2) =0
Therefore, X= -1 or -2
