A=1/2 b x h

A= 1/2 (5 x 8)

A=1/2 (40)

so you divide 40 by 1/2

20

The perimeter is the sum of the lengths of the sides: 5 ft + 12 ft + 16 ft = 33 ft.

The area is found using the formula A = (1/2)(b)(h), where b = length of base and h = altitude. Here,

A = (1/2)(5 ft)(8 ft) = 20 ft^2
