3x - x + 15 = 41

Combine like terms.

2x + 15 = 41

Subtract 15 from both sides.

2x = 26

Divide both sides by 2.

x = 13

Combine like terms

3x - x = 2x

2x + 15 = 41

Note the equal sign. What you do to one side, you do to the other.

Do the opposite of PEMDAS. Subtract 15 from both sides

2x + 15 (-15) = 41 (-15)

2x = 41 - 15

2x = 26

Isolate the x. Divide 2 from both sides

2x/2 = 26/2

x = 26/2

x = 13

13 is your answer for x

hope this helps
