Angles 1 & 2 are complimentary. Find the x value

measure of angle 1 = x+ 3; measure of angle 2= 3x-1

Hello!

Complimentary angles add up to 90 degrees. This gives us the equation below.

x+3+3x-1=90

We combine like terms.

4x+2=90

We subtract 2 from both sides.

4x=88

We divide both sides by 4.

x=22

angle 1&2 are complementary.
Therefore, 1+2 =90°
(x+3) +(3x-1)=90°
4x+2=90°
x= 22°
1= 25°
2=65°
