The sum of 6 consecutive even numbers is 126

(x -3) + ( x - 2) + (x - 1) + x + (x + 1) + (x + 2) = 126

6x - 3 = 126

6x = 129

x = 21.5

Let the first even number be x.

Then the sum of these 6 consecutive even numbers is:

x + (x+2) + (x+4) + (x+6) + (x+8) + (x+10) = 126

Combining like terms,

6x + 30 = 126, or 6x = 96. Then x = 16.

The consecutive even numbers are 16, 18, 20, 22, 24 and 26.

The fourth number of this sequence is 22.
