What's a complex sentence

Complex sentences is a sentence that joins an independent clause and one or more dependent clauses.

Dependent clause: ⇒ Because there is a meeting,

Independent clause: ⇒ the librarian will not be here.

Independent clause: ⇒ The librarian will be out

Dependent clause: ⇒ until he returns this afternoon.

Example of complex sentences:

  • While Kai is taller than Elena, she is two years older.
  • The man who purchased the tickets to Paris canceled his trip.
  • Ricardo went to a camp where he learned a lot, even though it lasted only a week.
  • Sasha has been learning karate since she was eight years old.
  • When Audrey gets home, she will make dinner for Miranda.
  • Ravi wants to go to the mall even though he has no money to spend.
