I set segment AM (7x+8) and segment MB (9x-8) equal to 128, line AB. Then I used algebra and solved.

Hello! First, AB equals to AM+MB,.
That means (7x+8)cm + (9x-8)cm =128cm
7x+8+9x-8=128
16x= 128+8-8
16x= 128
x= 8cm
Hope this helps:)
