Hello!

If you add a negative, it means you add more "losing" but the thing is, if you subtract a negative, you "take away" losing. They cancel out, switching it to adding. As you can see, in this problem, we lose losing 2. This means we get and add two.

5+2=7

Therefore, our answer will be 7.

I hope this helps!

5-(-2) is 7 because if you have 2 minus signs, they become a + so therefore, 5-(-2) = 5+2=7
