What is 12 thousandths in scientific notation?

Hello!

The fraction whose denominator is the number 1000 is called the thousandth, then we have:

12 thousandths


= (12)/(1000)


= 0,012


= \boxed{\boxed{1,2*10^(-2)}}\Longleftarrow(scientific\:\:notation)\end{array}}\qquad\checkmark

Note: The comma was positively moved to 2 decimal places to the left, forming a conventional number.

ps: The order of magnitude of a measurement is an estimate of the base power 10 closest to a given measurement. It must be known that the scientific notation according to the scientific notation rule, before the comma can only have the numbers 1 to 9.
