first of all you should turn 4
(4)/(9) into an improper fraction.

To turn it into an improper fraction you times the denominator (9) with the whole number (4) which leads to the answer of 36. Then with the number 36 you add the numerator (4) which turns the number into 40. With that being said the improper fraction is
(40)/(9)

Then you need to times the two fractions together which looks like this:

= \frac{40}{9} *\frac{3}{4}

=\frac{10}{3} *\frac{1}{1}

=
(10)/(3)

=3
(1)/(3)

"4 4/9 multiplied by 3/4"

can be written symbolically as (4 4/9)(3/4). The usual approach here is to convert that mixed number, 4 4/9, into an improper fraction: 40/9.

Last, we multiply (40/9) and (3/4) together, obtaining (10)(1/3), or 10/3, or 3 1/3.
