because of an unexpected cold snap the cost of tomatoes increase 50% in 1 month if the cost after the increase was 96 cents per ounce what was the cost before the increase

Since we are told that the cost of tomatoes increased by 50%, we can then solve for the price prior the the cost spike:


1.5x=96

Then we solve for x:


x=64

Therefore we are able to say that the cost per ounce of tomatoes before the increase in price was 64 cents.
