6/7y=3
First you multiply 6/7 by its reciprocal (7/6) to get y by itself. You also multiply 3 by 7/6 to make both sides equal
3/1*7/6
3 and 6 simplify to 1 and 2
So 1*7/2
y=7/2 or 3.5
